The Power of Partnership
It was a beautiful Sunday, a great day to sit on the beach. As I strolled back to my car, I realized I had a missed call. One of our church partners had called me and left a semi-urgent message.
When I called back, I understood that the reason for the call was a rescue situation. A woman had come to their church, and during prayer, it was discovered that she had been in a situation where she was being asked to traffick herself. My contact was concerned and wanted to jump into action to determine how we could best help this woman.
It was my joy that Safe Places was the first to be contacted. We exist to help those we partner with not feel helpless. The feeling of helplessness can be overwhelming. We desire to place in the hands of those we partner with the tools and resources they need to identify and provide what these women might need. Together, we can help change the entire course of someone's life.
In this case, this woman needed much prayer and some support—a lifting of her hands.
I walked into our meeting place, and before she saw me, I saw her. She sat there, zoned out - speechless. I could see the trauma written all over her face. I sat with her and listened to her story.
She would go in and out of almost hysterical crying and then come back to herself. She would shift her voice from a child's voice to her adult voice. She needed someone to sit with her, listen to her story, and love her like Christ. She needed to know that someone was not going to abuse her, but that my presence was simply there to help her.
She received prayer that day, and she cried.
It is comforting to know that we serve a Savior who collects the tears of the vulnerable and that He created this very thing to help aid in healing.
This is just one story, but many are to come.
How can you partner with us to help bring change to another person's life? It may be by becoming part of our team to bring care to women, doing outreach, or being the backbone of the ministry—our prayer warriors. Or maybe it is to simply give.
Whatever you find your hands to do, do it well, and do it as unto the Lord.
